Copenhagen design & fashion darlings Femmes Regionales approached Lequick Design for background animations for a fashion show at the Danish pavilion at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. The Femmes created images for the show’s theme, H.C. Andersen fairy tales, and after some hard work and a little magic, Lequick Design returned them as a 30-minute animation.

Hotel Pro Forma’s Relief debuted yesterday at Kaleidoskop. Relief runs until 22 May here in Copenhagen, then travels to Odessa and Varna. It’s based on the life of Vladimir Nabokov.

Assisting Hotel Pro Forma with the video animations this winter was a joy and a challenge, demanding me to be equal parts artist, technician, and magician.

However, having finally seen the finished piece in context, there is a certain theatrical charm in it that arises from exploring the relationship between the seen and the heard. All audience members experience the audio through headphones, and the lines between art and life, fiction and reality, are further blurred through the integration of real-time video footage from the streets.

Planning the longterm growth for the Øresund region 32 years into the future was a challenge taken on by an international team of architects comprised of Dominic Balmforth, Oliver Seidel and Verena Brehm, the latter two partners of City Förster. With research assistance from the Future Studies Institute and voice talent from København architect Rikke Larsen, my task was to assemble the concepts, drawings, research into video form.

This project won third in the international Dansk Byplan competition and a project overview is on exhibition at the Danish Architecture Center in Copenhagen from 2 April to 4 May, 2008. Click graphic to view the movie.

UPDATE: XBox sales top 30 million — it’s incredible to be part of something so big.

The new firmware is strikingly visual, and quite a bit different from what Apple provides on the iPod nano and classic. It’s also a bit different from the original Zune software in that the menu text is now quite a bit bigger.
