This was shot and edited one long weekend in August as part of the 2008 VideoMarathon.dk, Copenhagen’s 48-hour film festival. It features the musical wizardy of Seattle’s Snowman Plan.

Relief

Relief Possible Relief
Hotel Pro Forma’s Relief debuted yesterday in Copenhagen at Kaleidoskop. Relief runs until 22 May in Copenhagen, then travels to Odessa and Varna.

Assisting Hotel Pro Forma with the video animations this winter was a joy, but I find the real charm of this piece is the playful relationship between the seen and the heard.

Øresund 2040

Planning the longterm growth for the Øresund region 32 years into the future was a challenge taken on by an international team of architects comprised of Dominic Balmforth, Oliver Seidel and Verena Brehm, the latter two partners of City Foerster. With research assistance from the Future Studies Institute and voice talent from København architect Rikke Larsen, I had the fun task of creating the video above (in Flash & Final Cut) based off the architectural drawings and research.

This project won third in the international Dansk Byplan competition and a project overview is on exhibition at the Danish Architecture Center in Copenhagen from 2 April to 4 May, 2008. Click graphic to view the movie.

Hotel Pro Forma is “a vehicle for dramatic composition at the boundary of theatre and exhibition.” May 2008 will see the debut of a new Hotel Pro Forma production titled ‘Relief Possible Relief,’ based on the life of Vladimir Nabokov.

Working with them to create video animations for the upcoming production has meant being equal parts artist, technician, and magician. Diagram above by Ralf Strøbech.

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

The 2007 Fall update software hit boxes around the world 4 December 2007.

Not only will your XBox play DivX now, but it will also be easier and faster to navigate. All icons in the dash now belong to one refreshed and extended library, scrollback lists have been added, and transitory animations have been reconstructed to make the same visual changes in less time.

Zune 2.0 Released

Matthew | Motion & Video | Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

The new Zunes are out, with a new UI designed and built from the ground up. Of course, I can’t make a completely neutral review of it. But Paul Thurrott can.

The new firmware is strikingly visual, and quite a bit different from what Apple provides on the iPod nano and classic. It’s also a bit different from the original Zune software in that the menu text is now quite a bit bigger.

Watch the YouTube demos here or here with Bill Gates and J Allard at the Zune HQ.
