This ancient Chinese text needed a refresh for the 21st Century.

From one large illustration of a tree created by blowing ink across a page, a vector rendition was made and then sliced into 81 pieces on a 9 by 9 grid — one slice for each verse of the Tao. Add a spacious grid and a minimal typeface, and the Tao Te Ching suddenly becomes modern, accessible and inviting.
